Music for Expecting Mothers
Music for prenatal learning has to meet two requirements. 1: it must have a distinguishable rhythm, of a beautiful melody, and a clear low pitch sound. 2: It must avoid having a rhythm that is incongruous with the biological rhythms of the maternal body (e.g., the mother's heart beat, breathing, etc.). Bass, or low-pitched sounds, have to be emphasized, as the maternal body is a natural barrior to sounds, and thus high-pitched sounds generally will be obstructed; sounds and harmonic overtones whoes frequencies are over 2,000 hertz can hardly be perceived by the fetus. These principles received significant consideration when the prenatal learning music was composed.
Composed especially for pregnant women, the calm, smooth, and elegant prenatal music was made attuned to the mother-to-be's biological rhythms, such as her heartbeat, breathing, digestion, and blood circulation. In an environment that is able to alleviate anxiety and soothe discomfort.
Composed by: Wang, Jian-Yun.
Performed by the Nanjing Chinese Traditional Orchestra.
Running time: 41' 58"
